A track frame is optimized for racing at a velodrome or outdoor track. Unlike other bikes, the track bike has a fixed-gear rear wheel and can be easily identified by the rear drop outs which are horizontal. Tires are narrow and inflated to high pressure to reduce rolling resistance. Rigidity in a track frame is more important than lightness. Frames for track and sprinting are as rigid as possible because this increases the power transfer from rider to wheels. Track frames can be made of steel, aluminum, carbon fibre, or titanium. Carbon fibre is most common at the professional level.
