Kids’ bikes cover a range of different sizes and types. These factors need to be considered carefully in order to find the right bike for your child.
The first feature that needs to be considered is the size. The general sizes in the Kids’ bike category are 12’’ to 26’’ inch wheels which suit anything between the ages of 3 to 16. Ensure the bike is a safe size. The child should not be too far stretched and they must be able to safely reach the handlebar and gears. For more information on kids bike sizes click here.
The next issue is the type of bike that is desired. The most common are the BMX and Mountain Bike for their on and off-road capabilities. The BMX is best suited for younger children as the child is not stretched or leaning forward to grip the handlebars like they would be on a Mountain Bike.
It is extremely important to buy the right size bike and a good quality bike for your child. Although what brand you buy often comes down to your budget, the better brand bikes generally have increased performance, are safer and are more durable.
