Originally starting out as an artisan factory creating knitwear, Pietro Santini founded Santini in 1965. As Pietro was an avid supporter of cycling and racing, he made the decision to convert the company to manufacturing clothing products specifically for cycling, triathlon and running.

Santini has constantly been involved in the evolution of cycling clothing, supplying teams with innovative clothing ahead of its time.

In 1976, Santini was one of the first companies to introduce Lycra into cycling clothing and by 2003, had revolutionised cycling bib shorts by producing a gel silicon chamois to increase comfort and thus, performance.

Italian Passion and Manufacturing

Even to this day, after 50 years, all clothing products are researched, designed and hand-made at their manufacturing headquarters in Lallio, Italy. Santini produces approximately 3000 cycling clothing items per day, with around 75% being exported around the world.

Pietro believes that Santini must keep manufacturing in Italy to “develop innovative products quickly and efficiently”

Most identifiable would be the World Championships rainbow jersey, which has been designed and manufactured by Santini since 1994.
