GreenEDGE Travel is coming to the 2019 Tour de France and this time, we’re hitting the picturesque and race deciding Pyrenees!

Team Mitchelton-SCOTT will once again be bringing a stellar squad in support of the ever-impressive, Adam Yates, as the team look to extend their winning streak to the greatest Grand Tour of them all…the Tour de France!

GreenEDGE Travel, powered by Mummu Cycling will be there, in full support, backing the team daily as they fight it out at the world’s most prestigious cycling event. From insider access to the team, to cheering them on from the best VIP prime viewing locations, riding across some Tour-famous, stunning Pyrenean terrain and lapping up the best of the spectacular TdF atmosphere along the way!

Day 1
Team Mitchelton-SCOTT Meet and Greet

RIDERS
July 16, 2019 / Difficulty / Distance 30km
Welcome to the Tour de France!

Today, our team of GreenEDGE Travel staff will meet you at Toulouse airport by 10am and transport to our 4* hotel.

Following some time to settle in and prepare bikes, we will gear up and set out for a warm-up ride with your tour host, Tour de France stage winner and former GreenEDGE sprint star, Matthew Goss who will ride with you to the Mitchelton-SCOTT team hotel. Today is the first Tour de France rest day and the ideal time to meet the team, catch up on the Tour race happenings and truly step into the TdF bubble!

Once at the hotel, we will have the exclusive “behind the scenes” opportunity to meet the rider’s, hear about how the team is travelling from Director Sportif, Matt White, have a private tour of the team bus, learn about the fleet of bikes and more.

We will round-out a fantastic Day 1 by enjoying dinner with the team at their hotel. This is an incredibly unique opportunity to get to know the squad, while they’re in the midst of competing in the most important event of the pro cycling season, the Tour de France!

SPECTATORS
Today, our team of GreenEDGE Travel staff will meet you at Toulouse airport by 10am and transport to our 4* hotel.

We will jump in the vans to head to the Mitchelton-SCOTT team hotel where you will meet with riders and staff as well as tour the team bus and bike truck. Today is the first Tour de France rest day and the ideal time to meet the team, catch up on the Tour race happenings and truly step into the TdF bubble!

Once at the hotel, we will have the exclusive “behind the scenes” opportunity to meet the rider’s, hear about how the team is travelling from Director Sportif, Matt White, have a private tour of the team bus, learn about the fleet of bikes and more.

Day 2
Ride on the Official Stage 11 Race Route ahead of the race!

RIDERS
July 17, 2019 / Difficulty / Distance 55km
Following breakfast, we will travel to the Stage 11 Stage start in Albi where we will be enjoying time in the official ride departure village before setting out to ride along the race route for today. This is a once in a lifetime experience to ride within the Official TdF promotional caravan, just hours ahead of the pro peloton and all on closed roads. Expect roars of lively cheers as we roll off the actual stage start line and ride the first 50km of today’s stage, where you will truly feel part of the race itself as excited fans line the streets and chant us on as they await the pro’s to come flying by!

Following the ride, we will set up roadside to enjoy a picnic lunch and await the peloton to blitz by with ease. Get set to cheer on the Mitchelton-SCOTT crew!

Concluding our live race viewing for today, we will return to our hotel, where dinner will be at your leisure giving you the chance to get out and about to explore our surroundings and take your pick from the great local restaurants.

SPECTATORS
Following breakfast, we will travel to the Stage 11 Stage start in Albi where we will be enjoying time in the official Le Tour departure village, expect to try lots of local delicacies as well as mingle with riders as they enjoy there pre-stage coffee.

Following the stage start, we will transfer to a roadside to enjoy a picnic lunch and await the peloton to blitz by with ease. Get set to cheer on the Mitchelton-SCOTT crew!

Concluding our live race viewing for today, we will return to our hotel, where dinner will be at your leisure giving you the chance to get out and about to explore our surroundings and take your pick from the great local restaurants.

Day 3
Toulouse Stage 12 Start

RIDERS
July 18, 2019 / Difficulty / Distance 30km
This morning, we will checkout of our hotel in Toulouse in pursuit of our next destination, Lourdes.

Before setting off we will watch the stage start, only a short walk from our hotel where you will have the time to soak up the atmosphere as well as watch the official stage rider sign on before travelling to Lourdes where we will check in and prepare for our ride to the finish in Bagnères-de-Bigorre.

Today’s stage includes two challenging Pyrenean climbs that could well result in a thrilling GC contender battle to the finish. We’ll be there to witness it and have our fingers crossed at the line for the black and yellow colours of Mitchelton-SCOTT to fly through first!

This evening, dinner will be at your leisure in the buzzing, unique Lourdes; known worldwide as a major Catholic pilgrimage site and each year bringing millions of visitors to the Grotto of Massabielle.

SPECTATORS
This morning, we will checkout of our hotel in Toulouse in pursuit of our next destination, Lourdes.

Pau Individual Time Trial and Official TdF Relais Etape hospitality

RIDERS
July 19, 2019 / Difficulty / Distance 40km
Today could be a real game changer in the Tour de France GC standings as the riders set out against the clock on a 27km Time Trial circuit from Pau.

This will be vital for Adam Yates and he will no doubt be tackling the stage with every effort he’s got in a bid to minimise any possible losses against time trial specialists and key GC threats; Thomas, Froome and Dumoulin. Yates you can!

Following breakfast, we will depart to Pau via vehicles and then set out to ride the course ourselves to get a real feel for what’s in store for the pro’s today, who will soon after be setting out on the same roads at truly mind-blowing speeds.

Concluding our ride, we will enjoy the very best of Tour de France VIP hospitality in the official Relais Etape area. Here, we will enjoy stage viewing from an incredible location only 8km from the finish and enjoy big screen stage coverage throughout the entirety of the stage to add. To top, we will be indulging in multiple course gourmet lunch, paired with French wine or champagne while we watch. When at the Tour de France, wine not?!

Following what we expect to be a big and thrilling day out lapping up the best of the TdF, we will return to Lourdes where the evening will be at your leisure.

Day 5
Ride the Col du Tourmalet on RACE DAY!

RIDERS
June 20, 2019 / Difficulty / Distance 40km
This morning we will drive in pursuit of the infamous Col du Tourmalet. At 2115m (6939ft) in elevation, it is officially the highest paved mountain pass in the French Pyrenees. The challenging ascent has made a regular appearance throughout Tour de France history and will be returning in 2019 – this time with a Stage 14 summit finish.

Concluding a good breakfast, we will set out from our hotel towards the epic climb.

To ride an iconic TdF climb ahead of the pros on race day, is a surreal experience, so be sure to take it all in! Embrace the cheers and allez’s the whole way up as excited, passionate fans line the climb awaiting the race to come. The climb is no breeze, so the additional motivation will be just what you need to fly on up to the summit.

Following the challenge, you’ll be rewarded well, as we’ll be kicking back at the premium VIP Izoard hospitality zone close to the summit finish. Here, you can relax over a French canapé or two, beverage in hand as we watch on the big screens and await the exciting mountain top finish to come.

Here’s hoping Mitchelton-SCOTT has set up Adam Yates perfectly to contest the climb, all guns blazing!

Concluding what we’re confident will be a dramatic, thrilling finale, we will depart off the mountain and return to Lourdes where we will enjoy a final group farewell dinner and cheers to what we are sure will be a fantastic week on tour with GreenEDGE Travel.

Bon Voyage

Following breakfast and checkout, we will transfer you to the Lourdes train station before saying Bon Voyage! We trust you’ve had a fantastic tour with GreenEDGE Travel and hope to have you back with us again on future experiences.
