TRIP ITINERARY

Day 1
Bienvenue en France!
Our staff will meet you at Toulouse Airport. From the Airport we’ll have a short transfer by private shuttle to our hotel in the center of town. After checking-in to the hotel, meet your fellow Tour de France fans in a short orientation meeting where we’ll run through the plans for the upcoming week. We’ll have lunch together in the hotel then we’ll explore downtown Toulouse, also known as La Ville Rose (“the pink city”) due to the terra-cotta bricks used in many of its buildings.

Meeting Time and Place
Our guides will meet you at 10:30am - at Toulouse Blagnac Airport.

Day 2
Pro Team Visit
Rest Day - visit a pro team at their hotel

Thomson Spectator Tours are partners with Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka and today we will visit their team hotel! We will have an exclusive behind the scenes visit on their rest day! A pro Team Executive will give you an amazing insight into how a pro team works as well as the charity they help to fund. You can see the team bus, the bikes and equipment, and be let in on some team secrets. If you’re lucky, we’ll even see the team head off on their training ride! It’s an absolute favorite on our Spectators’ Trip - a real VIP experience giving unparalleled access and amazing memories.

Day 3
Tour de France LIVE Viewing: Stage 11
VIP Stage Finish in Toulouse

It’s all about location and today the race finishes in Toulouse! There is nothing better than staying in a city that hosts the race! In the morning you will head over to the finish line and see the area where it has been set up. The technical village adjoins this, and is where the media and TV stations will congregate. Jacinta is good friends with Phil and Jens Voigt and although we can’t promise, she will see if they have time to pop outside the security zone to say hello.

After lunch we will enter our VIP area, a 3-tiered viewing area with complimentary appetizers, drinks, official TDF photos and excellent views of the race. Enjoy live coverage on screens within the area and prepare for the cyclists to race past us as they head towards the finish! A true VIP experience!

Day 4
Tour de France LIVE Viewing: Stage 12
VIP Departure Village in Toulouse

As an Official Tour Operator, we have secured a visit of the ‘Team Paddock’ and Departure Village stage start in Pau. The Departure Village allows you to meet the riders and gain VIP entry, perhaps even meeting past winners of the race. Then, it’s onto our favorite - the paddock, where all the cyclists and teams congregate pre-race. The area offers fantastic opportunities to get up-close to the riders and Tour celebrities, as well as giving a first-hand view of the inner workings of the Tour de France. This is the place to get those all-important autographs and pictures from the Tour celebrities and riders. It’s one of the most popular moments on our Spectator Trips!

In the afternoon we will visit the spectacular walled town of Carcassonne. Set on a hilltop, it’s famous for its medieval citadel, La Cité, with numerous watchtowers and double-walled fortifications.

Day 5
Tour de France LIVE Viewing: Stage 13
VIP Viewing in the Relais Etape in Pau

In the morning we will drive towards Pau and head to our VIP area to be greeted by our hostess and ex pro-riders. The Relais Etape is situated on the course, generally within a few kms from the end, though geography dictates, it allows us to view the Time Trial in VIP style. A 3-course meal, free bar, live coverage on TV, until the cyclists pass right in front of us live - an amazing way to watch a stage! You can feel the excitement build as you watch official vehicles zoom by, hear the helicopters above as they track the cyclists getting nearer and nearer and get a roadside view as they pass by! A Tour de France gift is presented as a reminder of a great day.

Day 6
Tour de France LIVE Viewing: Stage 14
VIP Stage Finish on the Col du Tourmalet

No better way to finish our Tour de France trip with VIP race-viewing on the legendary Col du Tourmalet! We will set-off in the morning and head into the Pyrenees, seeing the crowds and hundreds of camper vans that have waited patiently for days! We will head to the VIP zone and after lunch we will enter our VIP area, a 3-tiered viewing area with complimentary appetizers, drinks, official TDF photos and excellent views of the race. Its location is dependent on the climb and it’s always in prime position. Enjoy live coverage on screens within the area and prepare for the cyclists to head past us as they climb towards the finish! A true VIP experience!

Day 7

Unfortunately, our Tour de France Experience must come to an end. We hope to see you back in the future. Join us on a Thomson Spectator Trip to La Vuelta, World Cycling Champs, Tour Down Under, Spring Classics, or AMGEN Tour of California.
