The Trail Ahead

January 14, 2015

12 months into his tenure as CEO of Mountain Bike Australia (MTBA), Shane Coppin has a lot on his plate.

Working to overcome a misconception that the organisation is just an insurance provider or race manager is just the tip of the iceberg. As the body in charge of the promotion, governance and management of MTB in Australia, MTBA aims to grow the sport and enjoyment of it. Shane’s restructured the organisation into six core areas – administration, trail + advocacy, events, communications, sports programmes and membership and there are plenty of plans afoot.

We caught up with Shane at the Mt Buller MTB Summit to find out what things were like this time a year ago, where the highs and lows have taken the organisation so far, and what’s on the cards for 2015 and beyond.

… And we also learn that MTBA is offering eight weeks of free membership to anyone who joins from here on in. A tidy incentive to give them a go!

BikeExchange was a guest at the Mt Buller Chalet during the Mt Buller MTB Summit.
