Behind the Scenes with a Soigneur

January 18, 2015

If you go by the definition online, a Soigneur is "a person who gives training, massage, and other assistance to a team, especially during a race."

If you go by the practical definition from Orica-GreenEDGE Soigneur Danny Clarke, there's a of detail missing on that position description!

BikeExchange catches up with Danny (also brother of team rider Simon) on a rare moment of down time before the Santos TDU really gets underway. We find out that his job entails anything from immediate First Aid (calf punctures - ouch), making sure brekkie is hitting the dietary mark, massaging muscles after a grueling day in the saddle, and plenty more.

It's the kind of job made for someone who's passionate about cycling, well-being and the chance to get among it with Australia's very best.
