The name alone of Bianchi's new lightweight bike suggests it should be in the Top 5.

Specialissima or 'very special' is up there with the lightest of light frames, weighing in at 780 grams for a 55cm frame! Add to that a 340 gram fork, Campagnolo Super Record groupset, and you have a bike weighing in at under 6kg! Very special indeed.

The new frame has a retro look about it, borrowing classic lines and the angular shape of its predecessors, as well as the unmistakable Celeste Bianchi colour (although the CK16 colourway is slightly more fluoro according to Bianchi).

The new frame comes equipped with Countervail material which was developed for NASA by Materials Sciences Corporation. The material is integrated into the frame and fork, and is used to reduce the vibration from the road making a more comfortable ride. The overwhelming feedback from Bianchi's first test day on the Specialissima was that it handled brilliantly and felt flawless on the descents, with none of the usual 'nervousness' associated with super lightweight bikes.

All of the graphics and logos are hand painted in Italy, but if you are after something a little more special, 'very special' you can take advantage of Bianchi's Tavolozza program and get your bike custom painted.

The classic look of the bike is complemented with internal cable routing, compatible with both electronic and mechanic shifting.

The Bianchi Specialissima goes down as well it goes up, and reminds us how bikes should look.
