The world's best cyclists return to Melbourne for three big days and nights of racing at Hisense Arena, November 19-21. It’s round two of the 09/10 Track Cycling UCI World Cup Classic!
In the 2008 edition, Jack Bobridge got his summer off to the ideal start with a win in the individual pursuit before going on the Tour Down Under and catching the attention of Lance Armstrong. The young South Australian then found himself up against Armstrong's protégé, Taylor Phinney, at the World Championships in Poland. Phinney was the winner of that meeting and is being spoken of as the next big thing in American cycling.
Following a recent crash, Phinney has said he may turn his attention back to the track with World Cups in either Melbourne or Manchester on the cards. "The 2012 World Championships are in Melbourne and riders like Jack Bobridge and Jessie Sargent will be there so the competition will be high. It's not definite yet. I still have some choices to make," Phinney said. If the battle between Bobridge and Phinney eventuates it will be a big one!
