Three time green jersey winner at the Tour de France, Robbie McEwen, has announced that he’ll be joining Aussie team Fly V Australia. In a major coup, the addition of the sprint legend has strengthened team boss Chris White’s push for the team to move to the Pro Tour next year.
McEwen has been vocal in his support for an Australian team at the Tour de France and other major European events and momentum is building.
“The team has built an impressive record racing in North America over the past two years, and with their move into Europe in 2011, the timing and the vibe could not be better.” McEwen said in a statement.
Next year will be 38 year old McEwen’s 17th season in Europe and he remains a force in the sprinting world.
