2012 Jayco Bay Cycling Classic Results

The 2012 Jayco Bay Classic has finished in Williamstown with GreenEDGE taking home the spoils. Alan Davis took out the Mens event while Melissa Hoskins was victorious in the Womens. The debut of Australia's own cycling team could not have been better with two wins to get the season started. Apart from the success of GreenEDGE, the Bay Crits marked the arrival of yet another Aussie young gun, Caleb Ewan. With two stage wins and second overall in the GC, Ewan is certain to be a star of the future. The voice of cycling, Phil Liggett announced to the crowd that Ewan was as fast as The Manx Missile himself, Mark Cavendish!

After a convincing win at the NSW Grand Prix 2011, the Bikeexchange.com.au Dream Team hit the track in a bid to win the four-day Jayco Bay Cycling Classic.

Drawing on previous wins and with the addition of Olympic Gold Medallist Nicole Cooke and Commonwealth Champion Rochelle Gilmore, the team of top Enduro mountain bike rider Peta Mullens, Australian Criterium Champion Kirsty Broun and exceptional domestique Myfanway Galloway, are set to bring some fierce competition.

“The team will be in strong form, and incredibly motivated to represent The BikeExchange.com.au Dream Team at the Jayco Bay Cycling Classic,” said Gilmore.

The Bay Crits will also play host to world debut of the GreenEdge cycling team, where in the elite men, the team of nine riders are set to be split into two teams – no doubt adding an exceptional competitive element.
