In the past my experience with Hydralyte was confined to relying on it to help me re-hydrate when a bad case of gastro hit.
Your typical gastro survival pack consisted of lemonade icy poles, flat lemonade and hydralyte.
It's been around as long as vegemite, and while it's not as recognizable, most Australians know what it is.
Therefore I'm a little surprised it's taken Hydralyte so long to enter the sports hydration market.
Hydralyte Sports has a number of advantages over your traditional sports drinks.
It has less sugar, and more potassium and sodium. Because of their medical background Hydralyte have produced a fantastic product.
Fluid and electrolyte replacement is best achieved by a solution that is low in carbohydrates (2-3%) and high in electrolytes. In some cases standard sports drinks fail to adequately replace the large loss of electrolytes (sodium, potassium and chloride) that can occur during heavy or prolonged exercise.
Hydralyte sport also passed the taste test, personally I enjoyed the orange flavor, but preferred the lemon lime.
