Support the Amy Gillett Foundation - Ride The Great Ocean Road

BikeExchange is very proud to be the Online Partner of the Amy Gillett Foundation for yet another year.

The popular event Amy's Gran Fondo staged in 2011 was a world-class event on fully closed roads in one the world's most idyllic destinations….and it's BACK again this year!  The event will run Sunday 16th September.

What the ride contains:

  • A fully timed, mass participation competitive event based on finishing time - true 'Gran Fondo' style
  • 120km of fully closed roads including the iconic Great Ocean Road
  • The challenging Subaru King of the Mountain
  • Open to all rider levels with staggered starting times - safety first
  • Over $30,000 of prize money and awards for individual and team category, winners and place getters and fundraisers
  • Qualification opportunity for the 2013 UCI World Cycling Tour World Championships (UWCT Final)
  • Limited to 4,000 participants

What's new for 2012?

Building on last year's Gran Fondo success, the Amy Gillett Foundation has introduced additional event components for more people to enjoy a challenging or recreational ride along the Great Ocean Road, with the same benefits as those who are choosing the longer ride.

In 2012 we will introduce the "Medio Fondo" - a 40km ride from Lorne to Apollo Bay.
This event will also be fully timed, so your average speed is lower than 18km p/h then this would be a great way to see the Great Ocean Road and a challenging ride, building towards the longer distance.

The Community Ride has been renamed.... the "Piccolo Fondo". A great opportunity for friends, families and indeed local residents to enjoy and return to the Gran Fondo Village sponsored by African Wildlife Safaris and enjoy the festival atmosphere.

Amy's Gran Fondo has introduced a new Fundraising function as part of the registration to make it easy for you and your networks to get involved with supporting the work of the Foundation in achieving their vision – zero bike-related fatalities on our roads. There are also some great fundraising prizes such as the recently released 2013 Trek Domane 6.2 (RRP $5400), so when you register start fundraising to be in line to win.
