BikeExchange is proud to be the Official Online Partner of The Amy Gillett Foundation "Ride the Great Ocean Road" ride, and if last year's event was anything to go by, it is bound to be a fun day out on the bike!
The event kicks off on Sunday the 16th of September and will see 3 different ride distances (including a new 40km ride), a tonne of prizes up for grabs, and one of the most scenic rides this country has to offer!
There are 3 rides to choose from:
- Amy's Gran Fondo - 120 kms of fully closed roads including the Great Ocean Road
- Medio Fondo - 40 kms from Lorne to Apollo Bay
- Piccolo Fondo - 14km, a community/recreational ride from Lorne to Cumberland River (return).
The Amy Gillett foundation was established with one purpose in mind - to reduce the incidence of death and injury of bike riders. And with this safety in mind, the roads are fully closed specially for the event, which offers peace of mind for those who are usually hesitant to face the roads.
There is over $30,000 in prize money and awards for the individual and team categories, and a 2013 Trek Domane worth $5,400 up for grabs, which could make your fundraising activities all worthwhile!
The results after the ride will be hosted on the BikeExchange home page after the event.
There's less than a month to go to get your entries in, (and limited entries per event) so if you are interested in joining the event you will need to register soon to secure your spot! You can register online, as well as find out more information about the ride HERE.
