Momentum R530 Review

Introducing the Momentum R530

Momentum is a relative new-comer into the Aussie cycling industry that is fast becoming one to watch.

This is a brand that has been developed to cater for the best value premium category, so it’s all about providing functional, aesthetic bikes that are not going to send you into a budget meltdown. Handy for this time of year, especially!

The Momentum R530 is Aussie engineered, and at the super sweet deal of $899, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better bargain that’s going to look after your bank balance as well as your bum for those long hours in the saddle.

But price aside, what makes the Momentum R530 stand out?

The bike has a full alloy hydroformed frame – it uses a double butted construction method the means it can stay rigid and strong but not feel like you’re lugging any unnecessary bike weight. Speaking of the frame, the R530 has a titanium flashing paint finish – this is a hot-looking bike made even more so given the white-hot price tag.

The Momentum R530 runs Shimano 105 20-speed group set, a fit-out that is all set for someone who’s entering competitive road racing. It comes with a 52-39T chain set. Couple that with the 11-25 cassette; and from pinching climbs to smashing it out on flats this bike is your new favourite wingman.

And what about the bells and whistles? The Momentum R530 is fitted out with elite level FSA finishing kit, so you’ve got your Vero compact handlebars, your lightened Gossamer stem and seat post. Add to this Momentum’s carbon forks, Kenda tyres and ALEXRIM R450 rims with fully sealed Novatec hubs, and you’ve got yourself a bike that is all about function as well as form, no matter how big a ride you’ve planned.

If you’re keen to dip your toe into some more serious cycling, or you are just getting started with riding in general but want to give it a proper nudge, then you’re going to be stretched to find a better entry point bike at such a bargain.
