Compulsory Adrenaline Junky Viewing
Buckle in ladies and gents, as this year’s Banff Mountain Film Festival is sure to see your adrenaline levels skyrocket.
Every November the mountain town of Banff, Canada, pays homage to high altitude culture, adventure and exploration with a series of films, a 2.5 hour line-up of which is now showing in Australia.
If you want jaw-dropping cinematography, you’ve got it.
If you want pure raw action with real people versus stunt doubles, you’ve got it.
If you want gripping stories that will stick with you well after the credits roll, you’ve got it.
From mountain bikers, climbers and paddlers to snowboarders, skaters and explorers, the Banff Mountain Film Festival gives you a glimpse into the lives of mountain veterans and modern-day adventurers, and their many triumphant highs and harsh lows.
We’re pumped to see Switzerland’s ‘Sea of Rock’, a 12-minute film that’s part of this year’s festival. A bike is found lodged on a climbing route in the Austrian Alps. The find inspires riders Harald Philipp and Tom Oehler to follow the treads of early cyclists. As they descend the foreboding ‘Sea of Rock’, their bikes seem almost a natural extension of their bodies, taking them over and around some of the gnarliest MTB landscape on the planet.
Get some mates, get some tickets and get to this year’s Banff Mountain Film Festival.
