Around the Bay in a Day is Australia's premier mass participation bike ride. Now in its sixteenth year, the event has recently experienced significant growth, with over 14,000 riders participating in 2007. These riders raised an amazing $462,000 for official charity partner, The Smith Family.
The event offers a choice of four ride distances: 50km, 100km, 210km and 250km. The ride takes in some of Melbourne's most scenic and popular riding routes around Port Phillip Bay and includes the West Gate Bridge, Beach Road and the Mornington and Bellarine Peninsulas.
The event has also joined forces with the Jayco Herald Sun Tour to bring you the Melbourne Cycling Festival, which will involve a whole weekend's activities at the Alexandra Gardens Precinct in Melbourne. The Festival will be from the 17 - 19 October 2008.
The Melbourne Cycling Festival includes the Friday Night Prologue, great entertainment on Saturday, the final stages of the Jayco Herald Sun Tour, GO Bike Expo and more. It's the perfect place to unwind, relax and enjoy your achievements after the ride, with lots of space for corporate marquees and entertaining, grassy lawns for your own picnic and entertainment for the whole family.
But on Sunday, it is all about the wonderful achievements of the 2008 Around the Bay in a Day riders!
