Ridley

Ridley was started in 1997 by Jochim Aerts, a painter and frame builder who had been producing frames for Belgian bike companies since 1990. Since its inception, Ridley has been at the forefront of product innovation. Its first innovative development was the conical headset in 2001, which later became the standard in the bike industry.

At BikeExchange, you can find a wide range of Ridley bikes. If you are a DIY enthusiast, we also have road bike frames from Ridley. You can either buy the bike, enjoy all the fantastic features, invest in frames, and build your custom bike.

What are the features of Ridley bikes?

As mentioned before, Ridley focuses on innovation. Hence their bikes are packed with some of the best features in the market. Let us take a look at some of them in detail:

Disc brakes Disc brakes are a game-changing innovation in road cycling. They provide an extra level of security to any ride and allows you to stop on demand. They are also reliable in all weather conditions. Even if your hands are frozen and barely functional, a light pull on the lever will modulate the speed. Without the need for braking on the rim surface, wear and tear become minimal, and you get better mileage from your wheelset.

F-Steerer Cables at the front of the bike have a significant impact on aerodynamic performance. On the flip side, getting rid of the wires results in an aero advantage of almost 10% to 14%. It's why almost all Ridley bikes are equipped with a D-shaped steerer that integrates all the front-end cables. This unique shape of the steerer tube allows all the cables to pass through the handlebar and the stem. The cables are completely hidden, resulting in a clean looking bike.

Hydro tubing Ridley's aluminium bikes go through a careful and high-tech process called hydro tubing. They use aluminium alloy, commonly used in the aircraft industry for better stiffness, weight, and welding precision for this process. First, the tubes are triple-butted, and the central wall thickness is three times thinner than the ends. It minimises weight and maximises stiffness. Then they are hydroformed in which water under pressure gives the desired shape without causing any potential damage. Finally, they undergo a double-pass flat weld in crucial places for extra strength.

D-shaped Seatpost Some of Ridley's aero bikes also come with a D-shaped Seatpost that offers a dual function of aerodynamics along with a strong emphasis on comfort. Thanks to F-tubing, the drag caused by the seat post gets reduced drastically. It is an important feature that can certainly improve performance, especially for long rides.

F-Split fork These bikes come with an innovative F-split fork that counteracts wind turbulence generated by the turning wheels. It does this by expertly guiding airflow through the split, under the fork arms, and away from the spokes. As a result, it results in decreased air fiction which in turn results in more speed. Apart from the features mentioned above, Ridley bikes come with many other features such as F-brake, F-surface plus, helium tubing, MTB geometry, comfort seatstays, etc.

How to choose the right sized Ridley bike?

If you are looking to buy a Ridley bike, you should know that selecting the bike size is one of the most challenging decisions. But thanks to our bike size calculator, you can get an estimate of the bike size. All you have to do is choose the bike type and enter your inseam length, and the tool will provide you with the size of bike that would suit you. If you do not know your inseam length, you can also refer to the size chart available on our site for every bike type. If you are stuck between two bike sizes, remember that lower frame sizes are more manoeuvrable and agile, whereas larger frame sizes offer quiet and stable road handling. So, you can choose the size based on your preference.
