Ryan Hunt from Mt Annan was the rider of the weekend – and in fact rider of the Red Ass NSW/ACT 4X & Dual Slalom State Series 2009, by taking out this year’s series A-Grade Men titles in both Dual Slalom and 4X disciplines. The 18 year old Sydney-sider showed consistent performances and a great level of skill as he won with a 20 point lead over Ben Leslie in Dual Slalom and a 76 point lead over Jarrad Connolly at the 4X. Mark Beeksma in Dual Slalom and Thomas Markus in 4X joined them on the podiums in third position.
Vanessa Thompson) as the only Elite Woman in the field impressed onlookers and fellow competitors alike with her skillfulness on the track and passion for the sport.
In the U19’s, Blake Nielsen was the clear series winner after winning all four rounds, setting the result in stone, which had dominated the leader board in the last three rounds: Blake Nielsen, first. Ben Leslie, second. Sean Fitzpatrick third.
In the U17’s, Joe Vejvoda dominated the field by winning all four rounds straight out, going head on head with Phillip Pender in every race. Both Canberra riders, Pender and Ben Matthews came in second and third respectively in the series.
A few weeks rest for everyone now to get ready for the Red Ass NSW/ACT 4X & Dual Slalom State Championships 2009 at Kurrajong (Sydney) on 15 & 16 August.
